Kleinood Tamboerskloof Katharien Syrah Rosé 2023
R135,00
The bright eyed, bushy tailed and overtly feminine Tamboerskloof Katharien Syrah RoseÌ was named after the winemakers’ youngest child and equally, bright eyed and bushy tailed, only daughter.
A med-full bodied, dry styled roseÌ with delicate pale pink colour. Perfumed aromas of summer berries, violets and grapefruit are present on the nose. The acidity is fresh, but the texture on palate is silky and the weight is good on the mid-palate with flavours of red cherry and spice finish the wine off. Ideally served chilled between 8-10 Celsius.

In the cellar
10% of the wine is fermented in older 500 lit/ton barrels and the rest in stainless steel tanks. The wine is kept on the lees for four months, after fermentation, prior to bottling.
In the vineyard
Grapes are harvested in the cool mornings, crushed slightly, and pressed. The juice is settled overnight then racked. Recovery is 550l per ton to ensure good colour and texture. Three yeast strains are used to add complexity and depth.
Ageing
This wine is made to be enjoyed now, however, it will age beautifully for a further 3 years from date of vintage if stored in the correct conditions.
Food Pairing
The Katharien Rosé 2022 pairs well with light salads, spicy seared tuna or a light pastas.
About the Wine Estate
The Farm- Kleinood, where Tamboerskloof wines are hand made. In the year 2000 the small farm, that was to become Kleinood, was very different from what it is now. Although its inherent natural beauty and charm was always there, it was, sadly, just a run down and neglected little fruit farm in a beautiful valley against a backdrop of majestic mountains and a river running through it. But it stole Gerard and Libby de Villiers’s hearts and they decided to give it their best. In good time they established vineyards and an olive grove, then built the winery and started producing wine and then olive oil and finally, in 2008, moved in to where our hearts and passion lay. Over time it has become a personal and highly individual project where no effort was spared in striving to produce a thing of excellence and beauty underpinned with a simple and holistic philosophy dedicated to explore, develop and use the full potential of the farm and human skills in order to produce the best Kleinood is capable of.
