The First Wine Route in SA

Founded as far back as 1971, Stellenbosch Wine Routes was the first wine route organisation formed in South Africa to collectively promote the wineries in this special area, and is one of the oldest in the world. Today, more than 50 years on, Stellenbosch Wine Routes represents over 200 wine and grape producers within the boundaries of the Stellenbosch Wine of Origin classification. The rapidly increasing number of wine estates and producers includes some of the most famous names in the Western Cape.

Stellenbosch Wine Routes members include venerable wine estates established over 300 years ago, modern boutique wineries with extraordinary wines and architecture, and large multi-functional wineries. Together they present a range of wine and wine tourism experiences that excite and entertain a diverse range of visitors to the region. Home to innovators in Pinotage and Cap Classique, leaders in Cabernet Sauvignon, and well-known brands producing Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, Stellenbosch Wine Routes members are certainly at the pinnacle of their craft.
