Uva Mira The Mira Chardonnay 2024

R390,00

An elegant and gently expressive nose, showing a sense of refined richness rather than weight. Delicate creamy nuttiness evokes almond and subtle nougat, layered with lifted lemon and lime notes that bring brightness and definition.  A faint touch of honeyed sweetness emerges alongside finely judged oak spice.

The palate is poised and precise, opening with a graceful almond nuttiness and a line of zesty, citrus-driven acidity. Subtle oak spice weaves through a dry, chalky structural core, giving shape to the wine’s delicate, finely etched texture. Hints of orange peel and honeycomb appear towards the mid-palate, enhancing the sense of elegance and lift. The finish is refined and persistent, with a delicate mid-palate tension that underscores both freshness and quiet depth.

In the cellar

The wine was matured for 9 Months in French oak barrels, 30 % new.

In the vineyard

We experienced cool winter weather which allowed for an adequate resting phase for our vines. Some early budding was experienced, but this was soon held back by the cold weather which followed. Wind and hail during budding followed by periods of heavy rain and wind during the flowering season, affected crop quantity. A warm, dry ripening season meant less vigorous vine growth. Soil moisture had to be monitored closely to ensure perfect ripening conditions. A very good balance between stressing the vines for flavour and irrigating accordingly was achieved. Canopies were well managed to ensure the perfect canopy for ripening management. The 2024 harvest had a small and light yield with amazing flavour and quality.

About the Wine Estate

Uva Mira translates as "The Wonderful Grape". Uva is the Latin word for grape, Mira means wonderful, miraculous and full of charm. The Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards, as high as 620 metres above sea level on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain Range, nestle against the Helderberg Nature Reserve. With breathtaking views of False Bay and Table Bay, often wrapped in clouds, a cool climate, sea breezes, a granite foundation and strong minerality of the soil, enhanced by acres of fynbos.... nature does her work.
