Neil Ellis Bottelary Pinotage 2020

R440,00

This limited release wine demonstrates the distinctive vineyard site and produces an elegant, medium-bodied and well-structured pinotage that has been described as one of the best examples of the variety in the world. Deep dark colour. This wine shows notes of dark plum and black berries with herbal notes of thyme lingering in the background. Black fruit enters the palate with freshness flowing into fine, chalky tannins on the mid palate.

About the Wine Estate

In 1984 Neil Ellis sourced grapes from vineyards not of his own and produced wine in rented cellar space. These grapes were sourced in the Stellenbosch district and meant a lot of nosing around the restrictive quota system prevalent at the time. His vision, the pursuit of quality, extended out of the cellar and into the vineyards where varieties would excel and best express a particular style of wine reflective of their environment.
