The Engelbrecht family, custodians of this magnificent property, have been making full bodied red wines under the Rust en Vrede name since the 70s. Jannie Engelbrecht’s idea to blend Syrah with the classic Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot was revolutionary at the time, and inspired other producers on the Helderberg to follow suit. Our Estate blend remains a market leader, both locally and internationally.
