Keermont Riverside Chenin Blanc 2020
R600,00
A polished light yellow gold colour, this wine has a bouquet of citrus blossom with hazelnut, with hints of cut grass, spring flowers, raw honey, and vanilla. The entry on the palate is soft and light at first, but then opens up with pure fruit flavours of ripe peach and apple and a touch of marzipan and vanilla. Lovely zippy acidity allows for a long clean textured finish with a lingering aftertaste of rich fruit and butterscotch.

In the cellar
Fermentation is carried out by yeast which occurs naturally on the grape skins and in the winery. This wine was fermented and then spent a further 12 months maturing on the lees in seasoned French oak barrels (225L and 500L). Bottling was done by hand without filtration. Only 2855 bottles and 52 magnums of this wine were produced.
In the vineyard
2018 was a very good growing season on Keermont, despite prevailing drought conditions. We had a fairly
cold winter although it was drier than usual. Spring arrived early and the warm weather ensured an even
budburst. Some good rain showers during the season warm days and cold nights which meant good tannin,
colour, and flavour development. Harvest started at the beginning of February, we processed a very healthy 87 tons over seven weeks

About the Wine Estate
Keermont Vineyards is a family owned estate situated in the natural amphitheatre between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountain ranges. All our wines are grown, produced and bottled at Keermont. Mark and Monica bought the 160 hectare farm in 2003 and with our winemaker Alex, grew the 8 hectares of vines to the 29 hectares we use today, growing 13 different cultivars. We like to keep things as natural as possible. All our vineyards are surrounded by indigenous fynbos and we aim to grow and make wines that reflect our beautiful terroir. Keermont is a magic place to make wine!
