Vergenoegd Löw Amalie Merlot 2022
R280,00
Extraordinary things happen where the ocean meets Vergenoegd’s vineyards. Their traditional Oak barrels imbue their wines with their characteristic depth of flavour and velvety mouthfeel. Uniquely located off the coast of False Bay, the vineyards enjoy bright summers. Juicy and generous, mulberries lead the way followed by a hint of spice and gentle touches of tea leaf.
This full-bodied, ruby-red wine displays subtle herbal and fynbos notes, dark fruit and mulberry on the nose with plum on the palate. A beautifully balanced tannin structure leads to a lingering aftertaste.

Steak will do the trick – try a creamy pasta with sirloin steak strips. Or a mushroom stroganoff with layers of umami flavours will work well too.
About the Wine Estate
Vergenoegd Löw is one of the most intact of the early Cape farms and a very important heritage site, national monument, part of the European Heritage Project and a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) partner. This estate - now 325 years old - tells the stories of the owners, their families, slaves, Khoi labourers and farm life over three centuries. It is a fascinating tale of a host of individual vrijburger and other farmers who farmed with grapes, wines, different kinds of livestock, crops and feed grains.
