Hartenberg The Eleanor 2021
R595,00
This wine has a lime-citrus on the nose that opens up to pear and hints of stone fruit and white flowers. The palate is roused by a chalky minerality and a crisp orange-peel-like zest. There is a follow through of the ripe pear character balanced with brioche notes and a lingering finish that warrants savouring.

In the cellar
This wine was matured for twelve months in 228L French oak barriques, 50% new, 50% second fill.
In the vineyard
Hand-picked from a single block of Chardonnay planted in 1997. This block is the coolest site on Hartenberg and is never irrigated. As it is the coolest site, it allows for a longer ripening period and fresher characteristics in the wine.
Ageing
This wine can be enjoyed now, however, it can age beautifully for up to fifteen years from the vintage year in the proper conditions.
Cultivar
Chardonnay
Food Pairing
This wine pairs well with oysters, scallops and Chardonnay risotto with a basil cream sauce, Cape line-fish and cheeses.
