This wine, deep ruby in colour, has abundant black cherry and blackberry aromas on the nose with earthy notes of thyme and a hint of spicy liquorice. The palate is luscious with blackcurrant and ripe red plum flavours with a lingering finish of cherry and a touch of dried lavender.

In the cellar

Each component is harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented separately. The components are matured in small French oak barrels for 12 months. All barrels are then evaluated individually and only the best barrels are selected for this fine blend. 40% of the oak is new and the rest is 2nd fill barrels. After blending, the wine is transferred again to barrels for another 12 months before bottling.

In the vineyard

All the grapes come from Yonder Hill’s vineyard at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain. Here we have decomposed granite soils, resulting in less vigorous growth of the vines giving smaller berries and thus more intense aromas.

33.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33.5% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot
