This wine is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cinsault, 11% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet franc from specially selected vineyard sites around the Stellenbosch region. The wine displays a stunning deep garnet colour with a ruby red rim. Primary aromas of ripe red and black berry fruit emanate from the glass. There are notes of dried Italian herbs and tobacco spice in the background. Entry on the palate is marked by juicy berry fruit with a clean mid-palate and a textured finish with notes of cocoa and herbal spice.

In the cellar

Fermentation takes place in wooden open top and stainless-steel fermenters without the inoculation of yeast and lasts for up to 3 weeks. Once the fermentation has completed the wines are pressed to 225L French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, after which they are racked and returned to barrel for further maturation for up to 16 months. No new wood is used so as to retain the freshness and purity inherent in the grapes.

The grapes are hand-picked at a ripeness to express purity of fruit and freshness.

Ageing

This wine will drink at its best between 3 and 6 years from harvest.
