Being their award winning, flagship wine. This is a stylish full-bodied blend that highlights the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon, the intensity of Cabernet Franc and the deep earthy tannin of the Petit Verdot. Robust ripe mulberry-velvet fruit, vanilla, lush berry and aromatic notes.  Depth of flavour balanced with good acidity and integrated ripe tannins.  The wine has a dark ruby colour.

In the cellar

After destalking and crushing, the must was fermented in open fermenters at 25˚C to 28˚C. The juice was separated from the skins after 10 days. After malolactic fermentation the wine was racked into a combination of new, second and third fill French Oak barrels for a period of 24 months.

In the vineyard

The grapes were harvested by hand during the beginning of March at 24.5 balling.

Ageing

The wine is ready to drink now, but will mature well for a further 8 years.

Cabernet Sauvignon 86%, Petit Verdot 7%, Cabernet Franc 7%

This wine will pair well with any beef / steak, lamb stews or other rich red meat dishes.

About the Wine Estate

Lovane is an award-winning, working wine farm. During the year vines are meticulously cared for by the vineyard team until ready for harvesting. The cabernet franc grapes normally achieve ripeness first (around the end of February or beginning of March); thereafter the cabernet sauvignon grapes follow, and lastly, the petit verdot is harvested (towards the end of March). Harvesting time is a very festive time on the farm when their seasonal team joins us. All grapes are harvested and sorted by hand and is then ready to be turned into fine wine. When the winemaker is satisfied with the new wine, it is transferred into French oak barrels for ageing. Their flagship is a Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This wine is called Isikhati, and the 2015 vintage was awarded a Gold Medal from Veritas. The range also includes single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot Estate wines as well as Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and award-winning Blanc De Noir, and a Methode Cap Classic sourced from the Western Cape region.
