Beautiful citrus characters on the nose. The palate shows harmonious weight, white pear and the citrus fruit follows on from the nose to the pallet, with hints of almond. Subtle and supportive oak. Has a fine mid-palate, pithy texture and vibrant fresh acids.

In the cellar

The various batches were fermented and matured in a combination of stainless steel, oak fourde, concrete eggs and 500L oak barrels. Maturation took seven months before carefully blending for botteling.

In the vineyard

This wine is produced from Knorhoek's old vine Chenin Blanc growing against the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain. A true exhibition of the beautiful flavours this varietal and terroir can deliver. The grapes are picked early in the morning and processed cold to ensure preservation of the stunning fruit aromas that Knorhoek continue to receive from this varietal that has made itself well at home in South Africa over the years.

Ageing

This wine was designed to drink now, however, it can age beautifully for five years from the vintage in the proper and appropriate conditions.

The wine is perfect on its own, slightly chilled. Its ideal pairing would be poultry, rich seafood dishes and spicy curries.

About the Wine Estate

This Stellenbosch wine farm has a long history dating back to 1793. Early family custodians of the land knew of the rich water source and the potential to produce bountiful and highly sought-after wine vineyards. With over 200 hectares, the farm is abundant and lush.
