Compagniesdrift Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2020

A vibrant rose, mandarin hue comes to mind. This blend consists of 95% Chardonnay with 5% Pinot Noir. On the nose nuances of cherry and red berry flavours comes to mind with some stone fruit notes. The Chardonnay grapes add to the core of the wine with Pinot Noir adding some depth of flavours on the mid- palate. Such great companions in one glass that adds to the complexity that neither one brings on their own. These flavours are well supported by a fresh acidity that helps to elevate the fruit profile thereof. A percentage of the proceeds of our Chardonnay Pinot Noir sales is donated to breast health awareness.

In the cellar

A variety of selected yeasts were used during vilification of each component. Once alcoholic fermentation was complete the wine was racked from its lees and allowed to spend six months on its fine lees before being racked, blended, fined and bottled.

In the vineyard

The vines of the grapes used for this wine were plated on the South facing slopes and within close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Picking of the grapes were done by hand on the early hours of each harvest date. Grapes were destemmed and gently crushed. Juice was then drained immediately to reduce the time of skin contact.

Ageing

This wine can age up to two years, provided it is stored in the ideal conditions.

Food Pairing

Summer and spring come to mind when you think of this wine. Salad and cold meats like carpaccio, with some capers or even pastas compliment this wine divinely. Although this wine can be enjoyed with most dishes it can also be savoured on its own with friends.

Compagniesdrift offers a modern temperature-controlled storage with a capacity of up to 3 million bottles. Our labelling service offers convenience to clients as we can label on demand according to the required quantities. We also provide re-work services for export purposes and special holiday promotions for the retail sector and will soon be offering a bottling facility on site. Compagniesdrift Wines were launched in May 2015 by farm workers with ties to leading Stellenbosch wine properties Meerlust, Vriesenhof and Ken Forester. Our range of quality wines are made by renowned winemaker Altus Treurnicht.
